Fun and Festive Receptions

Today’s receptions are all about the guest experience and creative brides are turning to interactive games and activities that help keep their guests engaged and their receptions lively.

Looking for some creative ideas to add some fun to your reception?  Here are some ways that are fun and festive:

Choreographed dances—Put a modern twist on a timeless tradition. Work with a choreographer to put together dances for the entire wedding party. And don’t forget that first dance.

Tossing of the Garter—The tradition of simply tossing the garter over the groom’s shoulder has evolved into creative ways that make it more exciting. One way is to have the groom launch a garter clad football.

Guest Book—Forego the traditional guest book in favor of guests writing their names and thoughts on an enlarged photo of the bride and the groom. Frame the photo and you have a wonderful and inexpensive piece of art to hang, bringing memories of your special day every time you glance it.

Signature Cocktails—Try a signature cocktail that mimics the colors of your wedding. Come up with creative names such as the White Wedding martini or Blushing Bride mimosa.

Special Lounge Areas—Provide special lounge areas with comfortable couches and occasional tables. Some grooms set up outside cigar bar areas and even provide craft beer flights for their friends.

Young Children—If your reception will include children plan in advance to keep them entertained. Offer a special room for video games and movies. Outside wedding receptions can incorporate lawn games such as croquet or bean bag toss or a wedding piñata.

Wedding Bounce House—If you really want to add a new twist to your outside wedding reception rent a wedding bounce house. It will be tons of fun for adults and even more fun for weddings that have kids in attendance. Decorate the bounce house with flowers and colorful decorations to dress it up or tie it into your wedding theme. What guest could forget the wedding that had a bounce house?
